“No PLAI.chat daily cap” means PLAI.chat does not count your free-model messages, not that capacity is infinite. Free capacity is shared by all users, and at busy times an answer may come from a low-cost paid model — free to you if you are not signed in or your balance is under $0.05; with a balance of $0.05 or more, charged only if you agree.

* Example message = 3,000 input tokens (about 2,500 of them are PLAI.chat's own instructions and tool definitions sent with each paid-model message, and a short question) and 500 output tokens, at the list prices above, before any prompt-caching discount. Real messages cost more with long conversation history (earlier messages are sent again as input), attachments such as images or PDFs, reasoning (“thinking”) tokens, which are billed as output, and web searches, which the model runs only when it judges them necessary and which add a per-search charge. “Needs first top-up?” is “Yes” when the output price is above $5 per 1M tokens; exactly $5 is allowed on the welcome credit. Image generation always needs a first top-up.

Yes. Free models cost nothing, with no account and no card. You pay only if you choose a paid (premium) model, and then only per message from credit you have added.
Not for free models: open plai.chat and start typing. Paid models need a free sign-in with an email magic link (no card); new accounts get a $1 welcome credit. You can add a passkey afterwards.
Without an account: 20 messages per day per browser, 200 per day per IP address, and 60 per hour per IP address. Signed in with a balance under $0.05: 100 messages per day on free models. Signed in with a balance of $0.05 or more: no PLAI.chat daily cap on free models. Daily limits reset at 00:00 UTC. Free capacity is shared, so at busy times an answer may come from a low-cost paid model: free to you if you are not signed in or your balance is under $0.05, and only with your consent if your balance is $0.05 or more.
It is the cost OpenRouter reports for that request at the model's API rate, deducted from your balance with no per-message markup. It depends on the model and on the number of tokens: a short question with a 500-token answer costs about $0.0012 on GPT-5.6 Luna, $0.0165 on Claude Sonnet 4.6, and $0.03 on GPT-5.5 at the 2026-09-21 list prices. Long conversations, attachments, reasoning tokens, and web searches cost more.
When you add credit, 90% of the payment becomes credit and 10% is kept as a fee, so a $10 top-up adds $9 of credit. Messages themselves are not marked up.
No. Each top-up is a one-off card payment through a Stripe checkout page, and nothing renews. When your credit runs out, paid models stop until you add more, and you can keep using free models.
On the $1 welcome credit alone you can use paid models whose output price is $5 per million tokens or less. Models priced above $5 per million output tokens (for example GPT-5.5, Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Claude Opus 4.6) and image generation unlock after your first top-up.
